Dedicated Diocese of San José webpage for Information and Resources in Response to Coronavirus.

393

The Diocese of San José has created a dedicated webpage to provide up-to-date information for the community on how the Diocese is responding to concerns about the spread of coronavirus. In this page, we provide information about precautionary measures to keep our parish and school communities healthy. We will continue to monitor developments and follow recommendations by our local and state health officials, the Centers for Disease Control, and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The page will be continually updated with new information and additional resources. Please visit: dsj.org/coronavirus

The page will also be updated with the latest liturgical adaptations that are being added to the ones our Diocese already had in place for the flu season. Some new adaptations include:

  • Holy Communion is to be distributed in the hand and not on the tongue of the faithful.
  • All holy water and Baptismal fonts are to be emptied of holy water.
  • Priests are to wash their hands before and after using Holy Oils.
  • Persons in the high-risk group have been dispensed from attending Mass. (Including: persons over 50 years of age, those with health conditions including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, or chronic lung diseases like COPD, as well as those with severely weakened immune systems.)
