Saint Elizabeth Seton School is blessed to have members from the Order of Malta visit every October. They join students and staff for a beautiful school mass and then visit students in their classrooms afterwards.
As October is the Month of the Rosary, the Knights honor Mary by bringing Rosaries for every child to the mass for a blessing by Father Severo. During their visits to the classrooms they share what a devotion to the Rosary means; a devotion of prayers that allow us to contemplate the life of Christ. Each year, they review with Seton students how to pray a Rosary, and share the beauty that such a devotion can bring to our daily lives.
The Order of Malta has visited Saint Elizabeth Seton School for many, many years. In addition to the rosaries, the school receives a grant to purchase Catholic items that will enrich Catholic education at the school. The children, faculty and staff look forward to their visit each year.
The Order’s mission is to serve the sick and poor and to spread the Catholic faith. Our local chapter is well known for their service in many soup-kitchens throughout the area, visiting several Catholic schools and even chartering their own airplane every year to take those who are seriously ill (Maladies) on a 10-day trip to Lourdes, France – fully funded by the Order of Malta. They do such amazing work and are wonderful examples of how to truly live out our Catholic faith.
