On October 14, at 3 p.m., a Mass will be held at Saint Christopher Church to celebrate the recently created Society of Saint Joseph.
The Legacy Mass and Reception will honor the members of the Society, which is served by the Catholic Community Foundation of Santa Clara County in partnership with the Office of Stewardship and Development at the Diocese of San Jose. Bishop Patrick J. McGrath will celebrate the Mass.
This is an opportunity for Catholic men and women who understand the call to proclaim the Gospel, to build up the Church and to serve our brothers and sisters in the love of Christ. In doing so, they have made a commitment to name their local parish, a Catholic elementary school, the Diocese of San Jose, or any ministry of the Diocese as beneficiaries of a gift in their will or trust, retirement account or life insurance policy.
“It’s a way to inspire other people,” said Carolina Scipioni, Endowment and Planned Giving Manager, Catholic Community Foundation. “It is also a way to say thank you and show our gratitude to the Church and to those who have shown faith. It is a very important mission for us and the Diocese.”
Scipioni said there are currently about 50 members of the society.
