Saint Patrick School Alum and Illustrator Debuts Books

Genevieve Santos with Saint Patrick students showing their autographed books and the illustration Genevieve did with the students.

Genevieve Santos, illustrator and Saint Patrick School alum from the Class of 1998, recently visited the school. Her visit marked the debut of the first two books that she illustrated: “Daisy Dreamer and the Totally True Imaginary Friend” and “Daisy Dreamer and the World of Make-Believe.” Genevieve shared with the students her journey into illustration that began during her time as a student at Saint Patrick School. In fact, she showed a picture of treasured art work that she had done as a fourth grade student.

She sparked the creativity of the students as she described the process of drawing the “imaginary friend” in the book. She then invited the students to give her ideas and elements from which she drew an imaginary Saint Patrick friend. Students were excited, engaged and encouraged to “do” art and keep journals of their illustrations. Genevieve’s visit concluded with a book signing complete with a personalized drawing for each student.
