Saint Lucy Pre-K Students Learn Using the Rainbow

The Saint Lucy Pre-Kindergarten program features a warm and energetic atmosphere that links seamlessly with the kindergarten program. Saint Lucy Pre-Kindergarten fosters a love of learning in a faith-based environment as well as providing students an opportunity to develop cooperative learning, conflict resolution skills, and socialization and communication.

In a recent thematic curriculum unit, Pre-K students enhanced math skills using colored cereal rings for sorting, counting, and spatial sense and color identification to study rainbows. Utilizing repetition through song, they learned the rainbow color order. In addition, they improved fine motors skills as they covered each rainbow color band with the coordinating colored cereal piece. As rewards, students were able to enjoy tasting the different fruit-flavored cereal ring

All students participate in the morning Pre-K program five days per week from 8 a.m. to noon. New for the 2017-2018 school year, Saint Lucy Pre-K students will have the option of an enhanced afternoon program. Students may continue their day in the afternoon program with the option of a dismissal time at either 3 – 5 p.m. The afternoon program is available for the students to attend either three or five days per week.
