Saint Lucy School students and faculty welcome Bishop McGrath to campus, to help celebrate the Feast day of their patron saint.

Saint Lucy School students and faculty were thrilled to welcome Bishop Patrick J. McGrath to campus in December, to help celebrate the Feast day of their patron saint. The students loved meeting him, and he spent time in each classroom answering the children’s questions. They were so curious!

Here are a few of their questions:
• What’s your favorite baseball team?
• How long have you been a bishop?
• When did you receive God’s calling?
• Do you hang ornaments on your tree?
• Do you want to be a Pope?
• Are you the boss of all the churches and schools?
• What languages do you speak?

After the classroom visits, Bishop McGrath celebrated Mass, where our fifth graders shared the life story of Saint Lucy. During Mass, an offering of donated eyeglasses was presented, in honor of Saint Lucy as a protector of sight. Bishop McGrath also asked the children to set aside their devices and find a quiet place to pray. He reminded them to listen for God’s voice. He does not shout, He whispers. What a wonderful message!
