Saint John Vianney Kindergarten Police Visit

On October 24, Saint John Vianney School Kindergarten welcomed some very special visitors. Captain Anthony Mata of the San Jose Police Department visited to talk with the students about a police officer’s job and about Halloween safety. He read a story about police officers and taught the students three important lessons about respect, education, and being healthy.

The students were surprised and so excited when three of Captain Mata’s co-workers from the K9 unit joined us in the classroom with two of their German Shepherd police dogs. The officers expertly fielded questions ranging from whether the dogs eat healthy to if the dogs like to play, even when the officers are driving.

The special visitors came at a perfect time, with Halloween around the corner and the students having just completed their October community service project, which thanked law enforcement officials for all they do, the Thursday before.
