Saint Mary School’s Walk-A-Thon & Carnival

Enthusiastic third graders run their laps at the 8th Annual Walk-a-Thon & Carnival.

Saint Mary School’s 8th Annual Walk-A-Thon & Carnival in Gilroy was a tremendous success due to the energetic efforts of its tireless volunteers, generous sponsors, and students and faculty who walked and ran a total of 7,729 laps.

The annual event raises funds for the school and at the same time boosts awareness of the importance of physical fitness and good nutrition. After walking (and running) their laps in the morning, students enjoyed lunch followed by a carnival in the afternoon. Prizes were awarded to the top male and female lap runners in each class, the highest individual earner, and the highest earning class. Funds from this year’s event will purchase new playground equipment and bring after-school enrichment programs to the students. This event serves as a great example of how much fun exercise can be while building a great sense of community and simultaneously generating financial support for the school.
