Catholic Daughters of America (CDA) Court #281 celebrated its 100th anniversary on August 14 at Three Flames Restaurant in San Jose with a beautiful prayer service and lunch.
Regent Theresa Cetani welcomed all and introduced dignitaries. Before festivities, CDA members gathered for a celebration photograph with Bishop Patrick J. McGrath of the
Diocese of San Jose, who led the opening prayer and congratulations.
Kay Gaffaney led a prayer to the Blessed Mother (the Patron Saint of CDA). Vice Regent Angie Yepez-Carrillo read a poem by Sandy Mitchell CA, CDA Spiritual Enrichment Chairman. Reverend Father Joseph Morris S.J., of San Jose Sacred Heart Jesuit Center gave the blessing before meal and the closing prayer.
The program acknowledged Regents from 1916-2016 for their service and Joan M. Loher the past Regent, who was in attendance, was publicly thanked. Everyone was pleasantly entertained by “Singers Around the Bay,” directed by Marie Quinn. In sharing CDA’s mission which is to “strive to embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all,” rosaries were distributed to attendees to encourage prayer in their journey of faith.
Catholic Daughters of the Americas San Jose Court #281 is a group of Catholic women dedicated to strengthening our spiritual life through Christ and His Church. We strive to encourage vocations, contribute to organizations that support the Right to Life; assist the unfortunate, the underprivileged and the homeless; promote patriotism and pray for all in need and for the welfare of the Church as well as all people throughout the world.
It is a special blessing to be a Catholic Daughter and we wish to extend an invitation to all Catholic women in the Diocese of San Jose to share in this experience! We meet on the second Monday of the month at 11:30 a.m. If you are interested in joining us, call Terry Ludwig at (408) 264-5154 or Theresa Cetani at (408) 338-5607.
