After eighteen years at Saint Martin of Tours School, beloved principal, Karen DeMonner, is retiring after dedicating over 40 years to Catholic education beginning at Mother Butler. She brought to Saint Martin School her own unique talents, personality, wisdom, love and a passion that inspired her leadership.
Current and past parents and alumni gave Mrs. DeMonner a proper send-off at her retirement party in May that included an ebullient roast, a skit properly named “If You Give Mrs. DeMonner a School” (to the tune of “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”) and a presentation of flowers from alumni from each of her eighteen years at Saint Martin School.
Current students also had the chance to celebrate Mrs. DeMonner as she visited each classroom and was presented with a gift unique to the class. The day culminated in a prayer service in which faculty read, “The Giving Tree,” a poignant reflection of how deeply ingrained in our community Mrs. DeMonner is and will continue to be even in her retirement. While the school and community wish her well on her next adventure, we hope she knows truly how much she will be missed.
