Holy Family Says Good-Bye as Principal Gail Harrell Retires

Holy Family School is immensely proud of Gail Harrell, who will retire at the close of this school year after 17 years as Principal. Harrell dedicated 42 years of service to the Diocese of San Jose, and three years of additional service at Catholic institutions in Southern California.

What an amazing feat, 45 years of Catholic school education! Harrell has been the Safety Patroller of the Year for Northern California, helped Holy Family School become a Green Certified School, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to build a new Junior High wing to Holy Family School, built a wonderful athletic program at St. Lawrence Academy, instilled the love of learning and teaching in hundreds of students who went on to be educators, spent hundreds of hours on the weekends cleaning up the school, and much more.

Harrell has been the type of principal who is out in the crosswalk every morning and afternoon helping keep families safe as well as being a friendly face. She has dressed as Cher, a Sumo wrestler, a fanatic Sharks fan because she loves her students and wants them to have a laugh and be inspired to support their school.

Harrell is leaving a school where she has created a legacy. With the Gail Harrell Athletic Award for graduating eighth graders, her name will always live on at Holy Family School.
