The 10th Annual Morning of Prayer for Lay Ecclesial Ministers was held at Saint Joseph of Cupertino Parish on April 21. At that liturgy, Bishop Patrick J. McGrath commissioned two new Lay Ecclesial Ministers for the Diocese of San Jose. Sister Sally Gunn, SNJM, from Saint John Vianney Parish, and Araceli Zarate from Saint Maria Goretti Parish, were recognized for their dedication and collaboration to continue evangelization efforts in our Diocese.
God calls… we respond. All of the baptized are called to work toward the transformation of the world. The Church rejoices that the Spirit has called many of the baptized to lay ecclesial ministry, and our diocese is blessed to have so many faithful co-workers in the vineyard.
Through their ministries in their parishes, along with their continued formal formation, these two women have dedicated themselves to the work of our Church. They both committed to work with the Bishop and diocesan staff to implement the Pastoral Plan, share the Gospel in all areas of life, to walk side by side with the people on the pathway of life, and to continue to grow stronger in faith and love, knowledge and commitment, discipleship and joy, to build up the body of Christ.
Following the liturgy, all present, Lay Ecclesial Ministers and clergy, gathered for fellowship and hospitality in the adjoining hall.
