In March, Saint Joseph of Cupertino (SJC) students honored their Grandparents and “Grand Friends” during a Grandparent’s Day event.
SJC brought back the affair in 2015 and it was a resounding success. The event has grown to almost 300 attendees in just two years, and all in the community are thrilled to be able to honor the children’s grandparents in this very special way.
The day began with students welcoming their grandparents and escorting them into the church for a prayer service in their honor. After the prayer service, students accompanied their grandparents to a relaxing luncheon where the students served their special guests.
Once lunch concluded, students provided tours of the campus and grandparents were introduced to classroom teachers and given personalized bookmarks commemorating the day. A “must see” of the campus tour was the new Sister Peter Joseph Learning Center currently under construction.
To wrap up the tour, students and grandparents took group photos at the photo booth. Finally, to bring the event to a close, grandparents picked up framed pictures of their grandchildren and received a gift bag with other mementos of the day.
