The Hicklebee’s Author Series continues at Saint Clare with another entertaining visit.

On March 22, first-time author, Laurenne Sala visited students from TK – 3rd grade. Sala presented her new book, “You Made Me a Mother.” It is about the celebration of motherhood and the universal message of unconditional love. Sala engaged the children’s attention and imagination with a story about her childhood, her mother and a rubber chicken. Her presentation included discussing the very first story she wrote in elementary school. She also inspired the children that they, too, can start writing their own stories any time.

After autographing books for the students, Sala left a poster for Saint Clare entitled, “Things We Love.” She encouraged the children to inscribe on the poster things or people they love. Saint Clare along with Hicklebee’s Bookstore continue to promote literature and reading by bringing touring authors to the school. Each author has their own unique way of encouraging the children to read and/or write. The Hicklebee’s Author Series will continue with three more authors visiting Saint Clare in the coming months.
