Saint Mary School (Gilroy) celebrated the Feast of Saint Joseph, patron saint of the Diocese of San Jose, at a Mass presented by the 4th grade. The beautiful liturgy honored the men of Saint Mary School—fathers, relatives and special friends—and was followed by a breakfast hosted by the school’s Mothers’ Guild. During the Mass, the 4th grade students read passages they had written about what their fathers mean to them, and lines from their work was compiled into a poem for the men. The students did the readings and led the prayers, and one student who performs in a mariachi band led the responsorial psalm with his talented singing. For more than 20 years, this annual event has given Saint Mary students the opportunity to recognize all that the men do for the school and thank them with an event dedicated to them.
