Do you enjoy meeting new people? Would you like to meet visitors from around the world? Would you like to share with others the rich history, unique architecture and art treasures of St. Joseph Cathedral? If so, the Docent Association of the Cathedral Foundation invites you to join us in providing enriching experiences for our visitors.

The first step is an orientation meeting on March 29 at 1 pm in Loyola Hall on the first floor of the Cathedral Parish Building, 80 South Market Street in downtown San Jose. If you elect to join us, training sessions covering the rich history of the Cathedral and its art and architecture will be conducted on Tuesday afternoons beginning on April 5, April 12, April 19, and April 26. Class begins at 1 pm.

Newly-trained docents will be assigned for Cathedral tour duty with veteran docents until they are completely comfortable in conducting tours for drop-in visitors. There will always be another docent on duty with you while you are in the Cathedral. Our hours for public tours are Tuesday through Friday from 1-3 p.m.; and you will normally be assigned two afternoons a month.

In addition, docents gather quarterly at midday for a general meeting and a potluck meal. Our December meeting is attended by the Bishop and the catered lunch is a highlight of our year.
