It is another way to reach the faithful in this Jubilee Year of Mercy.
Beginning in February, the Diocese of San Jose will host a series of lectures entitled “Living the Year of Mercy.” The lectures, in English and Spanish, will take place at the Chancery office, 1150 North First Street, Suite 100, San Jose and run from 7-8:30 pm.
“I think it is a great opportunity for people to really reflect on the Year of Mercy,” said Bishop Patrick J. McGrath. “It is an opportunity to learn more about it. I am looking forward to it.”
Father Sergio Ovando, pastor at Saint Martin of Tours, kicks off the series on February 18 (English) and February 25 (Spanish) speaking about The Father’s Mercy. Then Father Ovando follows that on March 3 (English) and March 10 (Spanish) with a lecture titled: We are Called to Be Merciful.
Director of Worship for the Diocese Diana Macalintal lectures about Mercy in Liturgy on March 31 (Spanish) and April 7 (English). Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Father Gerardo Menchaca, speaks of The Spiritual Works of Mercy on April 21 (Spanish) and April 28 (English).
The series concludes on May 16 (English) and May 23 (Spanish) when Deacon Ruben Solorio, the Director for Social Ministry for the Diocese speaks on The Corporal Works of Mercy.
“Our mission is to reach out to the world,” said the Bishop.
