‘Twas the month before Christmas when all through the Holy Family School not a creature was ungiving, not even a preschooler. The tables were set on the blacktop in hopes that students would soon be donating. The children were prepared to donate to families in need while visions of extra spirit points danced in their heads; and mamma with her shoes and papa with his clothes, had cleaned out their closets for a family in need. When out on the blacktop arose such a clatter, the principal sprang from the crosswalk to see what was the matter. Away to the donations she flew with a flash, tore open the bags and counted up the stash. The sun, on the morning of a new Holy Family School day, gave a luster of midday to the objects in front of her, when, what to her wondering eyes should appear, but 823 pairs of shoes and 1,000 pounds of clothing, with a little more than 1,000 pounds of canned foods so fresh and tasty, she knew in a moment it must be a blessing.
More rapid than Bears (Holy Family School Bears) her donations they came; and she whistled and shouted and called them by name: “Now Service Group, Now Student Council, Now Office and Staff, On Students, On Parents, On CJSF and Friends! To the needy of the community, to the next Spirit Rally, now dash away! Dash Away! Dash Away All! As boxed and bagged that before the trucks did come, when they were all ready, packed up to go, so up to organizations our parents they flew, with the cars full of clothing and turkeys too. And then, in a twinkling the principal was proud! She was touched from her head to her foot and her heart was so pleased. Merry Christmas to All and to a Good Giving!
