Each year members of Saint Catherine Parish host a dinner for the area day workers, their families, and others in need on the evening before Thanksgiving. The meal consists of turkey and all the fixings, along with pie for dessert. This year the 5th and 6th graders from Saint Catherine School made 30 pumpkin pies to be served at the dinner.
Class members contributed all the ingredients and learned a lot about pie making. Following a favorite recipe from their principal, Fabienne Esparza, the students measured, poured and mixed the delicious filling. Parents helped monitor baking times and the pies were perfect. The following evening everyone enjoyed their delicious dessert. More than 250 people attended the dinner.
