Third graders at Holy Family School have been learning many things about our veterans during the month of November; especially why we celebrate Veteran’s Day in America. They studied what soldiers and airmen have done for our country during times of war and how Americans are so fortunate to live in a country with so many freedoms.
The students wrote letters to the World War II Veterans who were preparing to go to Washington D.C. on the “Honor Flights” and prepared our Veteran’s Day Mass to acknowledge all those who fought for our country. It was a beautiful Mass that began with a Cub Scout honor guard and a candle ceremony that remembered those who died serving this country since World War I.
At the conclusion of the Mass, Father Andrew, the school’s Pastor, blessed those veterans who attended. After Mass, the third graders hosted a small reception where they met and chatted with our heroes.
