The Young Adults on the SMYA camping trip gather for a group photo after Mass in the woods on Saturday.

July 26-28 marked the 4th Annual Young Adult Camping Trip hosted by the Saint Martin of Tours Young Adult (SMYA) ministry.

The group was blessed to receive a grant from the Catholic Community Foundation of Santa Clara County to help make this trip possible. This year, SMYA had 40 young adults come together to share a weekend of fellowship and fun in the woods at Uvas Canyon County Park in Morgan Hill. Most of the young adults arrive Friday after work and stay through Sunday check-out, but the SMYA also offers a Saturday-only option for those who can’t commit to a full weekend or who prefer not to sleep in a tent.

Although they have chosen a new location each year (Mt. Madonna-2016, Sanborn-2017, Huddart- 2018), the schedule remains pretty much the same with Praise and Worship, games and s’mores in the evenings, and a hike and Mass in the woods on Saturday. The group was blessed again this year to have Saint Martin of Tours’ pastor, Father Saju Joseph, join them on Saturday to say the Mass.

It was another great camping trip, full of meeting new people, deepening friendships, relaxing in God’s beautiful nature and eating lots of food. Saint Martin of Tours Young Adults welcomes all young adults across the Diocese to join them next year on their camping trip in July of 2020!
