On September 8, at an awards dinner given by the Los Altos American Legion Post 558, Saint Simon School graduates Brody Ghashghai and Riley Simonsen were honored with the American Legion Award for Citizenship. The award honors middle school students possessing high qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship and service.

Brody and Riley delivered speeches thanking the American Legion for the honor and they spent the evening discussing what the award meant to them with area veterans and Los Altos Mayor Jean Mordo. The two were also able meet high school students who attended the Girls’ and Boys’ State government affairs workshops to learn more about those programs.

As current Saint Francis High School freshmen, both Brody and Riley hope to continue exemplary school involvement in the spiritual, academic, athletic and social aspects of school life. Both are already involved in school sports and multiple clubs at Saint Francis.
