Saint Lucy School students welcomed “Be the Change,” celebrating The Beatitudes, as the 2018-19 school theme. This theme is woven into curriculum, classroom activities, morning assembly, bulletin boards, religious studies, monthly Family Group meetings, and is even seen on faculty “Be The Change” themed T-shirts. “Be the Change” fits well within our ever changing world. As students focus on the Beatitudes, they will understand how they can empower themselves to give service to others.

Every month, activities will focus on different beatitudes embracing the core of Jesus’s teachings. The first Trimester will focus on those who are pure in heart, merciful and righteous. The second Trimester will focus on those who are peacemakers, persecuted, and mourn. The third Trimester will focus on those who are poor in spirit or meek.

“Be the Change” encourages Saint Lucy School students to become empowered to live as Jesus did, with qualities of compassion, humbleness, mercy, being peacemakers, being righteous, and living with pureness of heart.

Principal Sue Grover adds, “ Embracing the Beatitudes is an important way to live out our Catholic faith and develop the character qualities that Jesus wanted us to experience now and forever.” The Beatitudes give students the opportunity to see various forms of human goodness and paints pictures of how it is possible to be a good person and impact our world.
