Saint Catherine School enjoyed the benefits of the recent Morgan Hill leg of the Amgen Tour of California cycling event. Prior to the event representatives from Specialized Bikes presented bike safety assemblies. The assemblies were engaging and age appropriate, plus students received Specialized water bottles.

The week before race day, the seventh grade designed a large blacktop land art display. The week of the event, the students drew and chalked the design on the blacktop area. Students learned to transfer their design and that using chalk to cover large areas takes a lot of effort. As a result, they experimented with chalk paint and spray chalk. The design was completed on time. The day of the Amgen time trial, helicopters filmed the land art to be shown on NBC Sports during the race.

The Saint Catherine Honor Choir kicked off the Amgen Tour of California in downtown Morgan Hill as they sang our national anthem. Saint Catherine School represented the Diocese of San Jose schools well at this prestigious event.
