On April 27, students participated in a school-wide fundraising Rock-A-Thon at Saint Simon Parish School.
The event was more than simply walking laps, as students played turf games, and competed in various art projects on the school’s Los Altos campus. Putting the ‘rock’ in the Rock-a-Thon was a pumping DJ, who provided a motivational soundtrack to the day.
With Saint Simon’s focus on teaching students they have a responsibility to help those in need, the school participates in monthly food drives, prepares and serves homeless lunches, and supports people in need within Santa Clara county.
“This particular event raises money for the Saint Simon Parish Endowment Fund for Tuition Assistance, which serves to make it possible for more families to afford the important academic and Catholic experience at our parish school,” said Principal Ryan Roth.
After the event, the campus turned into a community social as parents ended their volunteer shifts and all took part in an evening BBQ. “We have a truly stellar and committed parent community,” said Roth. The event organizers are still tallying up the final number. The event has raised close to $50,000.
