Eighth grade students at Saint Patrick School took a trip to “John Steinbeck’s Country” Salinas, California.
This came after reading “The Pearl” in class and as part of the project-based learning in Mrs. Alegre’s class. The class visited the Steinbeck Center where his works came alive as they explored the various exhibits on this American novelist. They visited his childhood home at the Steinbeck House, and learned more about his family and time growing up in the Salinas Valley. These formative years inspired much of his literary work and this trip is sure to put more Steinbeck classics on the reading list.
