Students at Saint Christopher School work collaboratively to conduct investigations centered around soil composition, weathering of earth materials, and the effects of acid rain.

Saint Christopher School kicked off the school year by focusing on the initiative to promote science, technology, religion, engineering, arts, and math (STREAM).

The fourth-grade students are actively engaged in Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) lessons that build student understanding of science concepts. Each lesson includes a focus question that guides the students’ questioning, an activity for doing and observing, data management and analysis for discussing and writing.

During a recent unit on soils, students worked collaboratively to conduct investigations centered around soil composition, weathering of earth materials, and the effects of acid rain. Students brainstormed how they can be conscientious caretakers of Earth, connecting their faith with the decisions they make.

Teachers and students look forward to the continued implementation of technology with robotics and coding, which are being incorporated into the NGSS curriculum.
