Honor Guard, one boy and girl from each class, bring flowers to Mary.

The entire student body participated in the May Crowning, honoring the Virgin Mary as “the Queen of May.” The Student Council, Ambassadors, Honor Guard and Coronation Court all had a role May 1, beginning with a morning prayer. In procession, each class TK through 8, presented their flowers, and they were placed at the base of Mary’s statue. Following a beautiful rendition of “Ave Maria,” the Coronation Court surrounded Mary, and she was crowned. Our Mary statue was originally at Holy Names College in Oakland where young sisters had their beginnings. When the novitiate moved to Los Gatos over 60 years ago, Mary was moved onto the property; an area that eventually became the play area for Casa Maria Montessori School, where many Saint Mary School students attended preschool. Mary became a part of the school when the Holy Names Convent in Los Gatos was sold.
