For some of Holy Spirit School’s Pre-K students, this is the first time they’ve been away from home for the whole day. For others, it’s the first time they’ve been at school with their “big” brothers and sisters. It might be the first time they’ve recited the pledge, had a classroom visit with their pastor or heard the word “metamorphosis.”
It is one of the wonderful things about our Pre-K program, everything is new and exciting and fun. During “D Week,” for example, students excavate fossils in the sand and recite rhymes about dinosaurs. They handle large replica dinosaur bones and have math lessons using dinosaur eggs. Using the app Brain Pop Jr., students are able to learn about extinct and endangered species and see fossils. Holy Spirit’s Pre-K program leverages all the latest technology, but also keeps the students’ active imaginations engaged. This week, they use a stethoscope to examine a “dinosaur egg” that was about to hatch!
