One of the Common Core enrichment goals is to integrate curriculum with technology. Thus following a unit of study in dystopian literature present and past, Saint Frances Cabrini (SFC) eighth grade students produced QR Codes to report on their novel. In the computer lab, Mrs. Peterson taught the students how to generate a QR “Quick Response” Code with Google Spreadsheet and the accompanying QR Code Generator. Back in the language arts classroom, Mrs. Behrens challenged students to write a review of their book in 500 characters or less, which they then used to create their QR Code. Once printed, students were then able to “read” their peers’ reviews with their Chromebooks.
