The 8th Grade students at Saint John the Baptist School have been studying the forms of energy and energy transfer. Students put their knowledge of thermal energy transfer and the engineering design process to the test in order to create solar ovens.

Each group designed and built their own solar oven using cardboard boxes, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and black paper. After preheating the ovens for an hour outdoor in the sun, the s’mores were cooked for 30 minutes. A few of the ovens reached 125 degrees inside!
