Kindergartners at Saint Clare School planted drought tolerant plants in school flower beds.

Ms. Straw’s Kindergarten class participated in planting drought tolerant plants in our school’s front flower beds.  Mrs. Baldwin and Mrs. Johnson assisted them with planting various varieties of succulents including Sempervivum (Hens and Chicks) and Stonecrop. Both are also known for being frost tolerant. They also planted the vibrant yellow Mums named “Padre Yellow.”  The children had fun getting their hands dirty (and sometimes uniforms!) while learning about the drought, and how each of us can help with water conservation.  The Kindergarten class named their planting project the “St. Clare Water Wise Garden.” Several engineering students at SCU made the lovely sign (located in the right side flower bed) in the Model Maker Lab on campus!
