Faguni Gupta, a sixth grader at Holy Family School, was recently named AAA Safety Patroller of the Year for Northern California, Nevada, and Utah. Holy Family principal, Gail Harrell, was also awarded Honorable Mention AAA Safety Patrol Advisor of the Year. They were chosen by a panel of ten judges from hundreds of patrollers and advisors and are being honored for their work, dedication, service, and commitment to providing a safe environment at Holy Family School. The award included a $4,000 donation and plaque by AAA to the school. Holy Family School is the first school in San Jose to be honored with both Patroller of the Year and Advisor of the Year.
The honorees and other Holy Family Safety Patrollers were treated as VIPs at a recent Oakland A’s game. They were also honored by Mayor Sam Liccardo at a ceremony at the June 9 San Jose City Council meeting. In addition, San Jose City Councilmember Don Rocha and AAA Business Manager Dudley Ashley came to Holy Family to honor Faguni and Harrell at a recent school assembly.
