New Faces at Sacred Heart Nativity Schools

Sacred Heart Nativity Schools (SHNS) welcomed some new faces this school year.

Lorraine Shepherd joins the community as principal. She comes to SHNS after spending the last 11 years at Saint Martin of Tours School as an integral member of the administrative team as well as Middle School Social Studies and Religion teacher. Prior to her work at Saint Martin’s, she was a teacher at Saint Lawrence Elementary and Middle School, and her first career was in the TV and Radio broadcast industry. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, and earned her Master’s in Teaching and CA Credential from the University of San Francisco.

Joining Shepherd is Tere Allen as Vice Principal and Curriculum Coordinator. Allen is in her 25th year of teaching, having served at Most Holy Trinity, Saint Martin of Tours, Saint Leo the Great and Saint Elizabeth Seton.

“When we came to Nativity, we knew that this school was home, where we needed to be. It is such good work,” said Shepherd. “The community is wonderful and they embrace the idea of teaching the whole child. As teachers, we become a vital part of the child’s entire being. We eat, work, and play together. This intimate knowledge is paramount in guiding them into the future. This is a place where dreams still come true. Our first generation college educated graduates will change the world and for just a few years, we have walked side by side together to make that happen.”

The pair joins President Sonya Arriola as part of the leadership team at Sacred Heart Nativity Schools.
