Themed weeks, swimming, academic courses, field trips, bible study… what a way to spend a summer!
Students enrolled in the Saint Lawrence Summer School program, run by veteran Principal Meredith Somavia, arrived to campus on July 24 for an adventure. Dressed in superhero attire and ready for action on their last day of summer school, students and teachers celebrated the end of the five-week program with laser beam challenges, target practice and flash dash races.
Alongside the Summer School program, the Summer Camp team of experienced leaders; Sue Herbelin, Eileen Madej and Trini Martinez welcomed over a hundred students to themed weeks of action filled-days for three separate age-appropriate camps from June 15-August 19.
Campers spent their days with games, activities, swim time and were supervised by a diverse staff including school and camp alumni. One of campers’ favorite activities was weekly Bible Study with Laure Vierra, also the 2nd Grade Instructional Aide at SLEMS. During these sessions, campers utilized the technology-filled classrooms of Saint Lawrence to interact with the Gospel message on the Smartboards. Each camper left Bible Study with a religious ‘souvenir’ to remind them of the lesson that they learned.
Each week, the ALL CAMP activities on Friday were a crowd favorite. The summer camp staff, created fun-filled games and activities to match the weekly theme and include all campers ages 4-14. The challenge of creating these fun, entertaining and memorable experiences was met by the creative staff and enjoyed by all the campers.
This summer, the Saint Lawrence campus was full of energy and life and they look forward to carrying the summer success into the new school year!
