Almazol-Kathy-smallSchool is starting!
Hurrah! The 2015-16 school year has begun! Welcome to the 40+ new teachers, 5 new administrators and 2 new Assistant Superintendents! The combined effort of our Department of Education and Human Resources department found outstanding administrators for our schools during the spring and summer. Our students and faculties, as well as the parent communities, are already reaping the benefit of these dedicated Catholic men and women.
We anticipate a return of the 16, 300 students we enrolled last year. Our goal in the elementary program this year is to enroll 200 new students and families to our Catholic schools. We are committed to working together to make sure this is a reality. Over all elementary schools, this is a gain seven students at each site. Our outstanding administrators are committed to working together to achieve our goal. You can help us by recommending a Catholic elementary school to your friends and family.
Additionally, you can help us by contributing to our annual Catholic Education Scholarship appeal on the weekend of September 13 in your parish collection. I thank you in advance for your help. Each dollar we collect contributes to the Diocesan Scholarship fund that is distributed to elementary and high school students in our Catholic schools.
As we welcome new students, parents, teachers, administrators and pastors to Catholic schools we rejoice in the return of our faith filled communities that are so dedicated to Catholic schools. We are a true partnership and cannot work without the commitment of all our stakeholders.
I look forward to writing more columns to inform you about the good work our schools are doing. Have a great first day of school!

With gratitude,

Kathy Almazol
