It is always wonderful to be with the people of the Diocese of San Jose! We heard many wonderful reactions to our day on building bridges to the heart of discipleship.
The day focused on ways in which individuals and parishes can build bridges to the others in the parish as well as to those beyond our parish doors. Participants told us they appreciated the time to share with others about their experiences, to express their hopes, and to learn from others. They also liked that while there was much information shared, we proposed simple things that each person and parish can do to build bridges, focusing on welcome, friendship, and sharing.
This day is part of a more extensive process to form parish leaders as bridge builders to those with whom they minister and all in the parish, ultimately leading people to an encounter with Jesus Christ and to discipleship.
The Bridges leadership series provides a step-by-step process through which leaders can develop a common vision for their parish that builds on Pope Francis’ image of the evangelizing community. We utilize current research and the best practices of many parishes to provide a framework through which leaders form evangelizing communities of disciples and stewards.
